Why do so many kids hate Math?

Just this morning on the radio I heard a number of people say that they are terrible at math and that they are surprised they are excelling at their jobs, despite their inability to deal with numbers…

2019 Goals.

“New Year, New me.”

A phrase which is frequently said by everyone when a new year has arrived but let’s ask ourselves if we changed our bad habits into a good one. As new year arrives, we usually set a new goals for us to achieve throughout the entire year but how many of us are actually willing to achieve it? To be frank, we usually set our own goals during the first day of the year but we tend to forget about it after a week or even just days which typically shows that many our not willing to put efforts in achieving our own goals.

As for my family, it is a ritual for us to actually write down our new year’s resolutions on a piece of paper and stick on the wall. The guilt is within me because with all those goals I wrote on a piece of paper, how many of them were actually achieved? I guess, none!

This year, I want a change!

This year, 2019, is an important year for myself again as I will have to sit for a National Exams called O-levels, which will determine where I can head on for my tertiary education on the following year. Why do we have to set goals for ourselves? For this year, I have set goals for myself to start saving money, stop procrastinating and lastly, to start a healthy lifestyle.

If you’re a person who spends money carelessly, you will understand how tough it is to start saving money. The main reason why it’s difficult for me to achieve my goal is due to the temptations that I give in quickly to purchase items that are unnecessary. Saving money is important because it teaches you self-control at the same time and it makes you realise that money doesn’t come easily. If it’s tough, how will I overcome it? Well, I made a deal with myself last week only spend at least $10 a day and not use my credit card! It’s only been a week and I managed to save $54! I guess it works for me and I really do hope my efforts and willingness follows ahead.

Procrastination is one of my habit but my biggest enemy! Honestly, who doesn’t procrastinate? We’d rather be chilling and resting than doing the tasks given to us, right? I’m always engrossed on my phone which makes me neglect my works which leads me to feel guilty afterwards. Preventing procrastination helps us captivate the importance of time management! As i’m slowly finding my way out of my bad habit, I made myself a schedule on when I can feel free and when I have to focus on my tasks! It’s not easy but I’m glad to say that it’s slowly working for me because I’m keeping myself on track. Trust yourself and stop yourself from all temptations. It’s okay to cheat in the beginning but slowly, learn the process and make it a habit. Seriousness aside, I hope that i’ll be able to keep myself on track for this! SIGH.

Count me in for being a bed potato. There are few people who I deeply respect for actually having the time and respect on working out EVERYDAY. It’s something I can never achieve in my life because you can count me out if you ask me to go for a run or exercise with you! I’m also not the type of person who eats vegetables. It’s disgusting. Early last year, I actually did start running and exercising every weekends for an hour with a partner to keep me motivated. At the start, it was terrible but as the days goes by, I got used to it where I’ll feel repentant for not going for a run and exercise. However, it stopped after my partner got injured which made me become a bed potato AGAIN. This year, I try to play badminton every Friday and run during one of the weekends to cultivate a healthy lifestyle. Though I have not find a way to solve my eating habits, I’m slowly finding a way on my lazy-ness habits and for me, that’s a great start! Just find someone who’ll push you hard and motivate you to do something you dislike and turn it into your habits!

It’s not easy, but working for it is worth it!

Setting goals for yourself is not easy to achieve but start slowly. Start with simple goals that can be achieved easily and slowly, upgrade. Good luck on achieving your goals and have a great year ahead!
