Mornings. What can be said about them that has not already been? They are a mishmash of thoughts. Life is strange. And rainy days are the best even if you are in Scotland where it rains 300 days a…

Can Social Media be an addiction

Checking social media has become popular over the last decade. Scrolling through social media has become a daily thing where it’s the first thing people check when they wake up so see their emails, messages, or posts. This is considered a behavioral addiction that is driven to have an urge to log into social media causing to spend more time invested of doing important life tasks.

It is important to spend less time on social media since many can increase their anxiety depending what they are believing is true. Some might believe what they are reading is true can cause them to believe anything especially teens since so many use social media to stay connected with friends.

Why not try something new and try to complete a social media cleanse for maybe a week first and then expanding it. If not try to use your phone less only use it when you need it. As you can see the tweet the person completed 36 day cleanse and realized after how much time they been spending and felt good about it. It is important to try this sometimes and you realized how much screen time you are spending.

This post is a great tip if you have trouble staying focused when you are doing a task. You can make a list on what you need to do throughout the day with first starting off with the important stuff. I know many can get distracted with their phone which can cause them to not complete their task instead make them fall behind. If you feel like taking a break try to take a walk instead of going on your phone because a 15 minute break can cause it to be an hour break.

I feel like we can all relate to this image since we’re always waiting for that important message from someone or important news that we are waiting for. When is the right time to check those message though, most people do it during eating which might be disrespectful if you are eating with family or simply waits when they have a free time. In a way we can always wait to see those messages instead of doing in front someone that you should be spending time with.

It is true you can’t always be on your phone since it can cause an addiction because we made a routine to always be on it which can cause to feel isolated or feel low self-esteem since many people are posting about living a better life than them and believe they should live it that way.

In the Instagram post she says “Switching off is not missing out! It’s time to be doing, rather than just being!” She has a great reason that if you turn off your phone you won’t be missing out since you will doing instead of just being on social media.

Choosing the path to keep updated on social media can cause to lose your identity. In this Ted Talk she talks about helping others realizing that they can lose their identity through social media since we consistently posting in order to keep others updated. She also states that social media can led to depression, self-doubt, and unhappiness. She makes valid points on why social media can become an addiction.

At the end of the day we all want to have a goodnight sleep without any distraction that can cause it. We don’t need to constantly be on your phone but instead take a break to do something physical for your health being instead of hurting your mental health.
