Why Start a Facebook Business Page

If you started with Facebook, consider creating a business page from your personal account. This will allow you to keep a personal relationship with family and friends separate from your business posts.

Once you do setup your business account, invite all of your friends and sold customers to ‘Like’ or follow your business page.

Your business page will give you data and insights that personal pages do not so, you can keep connecting with customers and promote your business more effectively.

Personal profiles are limited to 5000 friends. Business pages can have an unlimited number of followers. You also can’t run a contest on a personal profile because it violates Facebook’s terms and conditions and contests are a terrific way to increase the number of people who will see your future posts.

With a business page, you’ll have an opportunity to place any of your posts on a news feed to people who have not yet connected with you. Boosting the post allows you to ensure a much larger audience of your choice sees the post in their news feed.

A boosted post is the most basic advertising you can do on Facebook. Once you create your post on your business page, you will see a ‘boost post’ option in the bottom right hand corner. Once this is clicked and the boost is approved by Facebook, more people will see this particular post in their news feed. You can target your post to people who like your page and their friends or people you choose through targeting. If you choose people through targeting, you can target based on location, interests, age and gender.

The cost is minimal; for example, you could run a post in front of a couple of thousand Facebook news feeds for less than $10 per day so a $50 budget will stretch your efforts and results a long way. Facebook ads are a more advanced way to advertise on Facebook and offer the greatest number of options for you to advertise so, get comfortable boosting first before you graduate to Facebook ads.
