Products Comparison Analysis

Case Study — Nestle Product Comparison analysis.

Microsoft Power Bi was the only tool used for this analysis and visualization.

The dataset contained a sales table which has 18,115 rows and 6 columns

The columns include, Sales ID, Date, Product Name, Total Revenue, Sales Location and Sales Medium. This is the record of sales from 2018 to 2020. There was not much data cleaning since the data was already cleaned. I only changed some of the column names to make it shorter and change revenue data type from decimal number to currency.

A new calendar table was created which the year, month, quarter, day and month number was extracted. This calendar table is connected to the sales table in data modeling as one to many relationships using the date column.

I used only Dax functions for the entire analysis which include DISTINCTCOUNT(), SUM().

The total revenue generated from 2018 t0 2020 is $30.82 million.

18,115 total sales were made during this period.

The total products included in this dataset is 9 different products and the total location is 8 states in Australia.

Total Revenue by Products

Milo has the highest revenue of $6.0million while Nescafe Gold has the least revenue of $1.7 million.

Total sales of products by medium of sales

Generally, Nescafe was sold more than other products in both online and direct medium. The lowest product sold is Smarties.

No milo product is online though it is the highest product sold direct via medium.

Nestle Drumstick and Nesquik Duo also have very low online sales with only two items each. The most sold product online is Nescafe with 3,422 sales.

The direct medium is 11,152 (61.56%) and the online medium is 6,963 (38.44%), comparing both more products sold at the direct medium than online.

Total sales by Locations

The products comparison analysis was done for Nestle products sold within Australia. Australia state Tasmania has the highest sales 3,187 from 2018 to 2020 followed by South Australia 3,143. The state with the least sales is Western Australia with 271 sold products.

Total Revenue by Location

The highest revenue was generated in South Australia, $5.5 million followed by Tasmania $5.3 million. Western Australia generated the least revenue of $485,144.
