Color Psychology Blog for GCS 310

In the color psychology blog, I learned about how color psychology is a science of how color affects the human brain. There are many colors out there, but there are some that have different meanings. For example, yellow is a warning color to let people know certain things on signs, like a wet floor sign or deer crossing signs. Also the yellow traffic light is a warning color to slow down cars in busy traffic. Using colors in the right way is tricky at times. If one wants to use colors for a children website, they would have to consider using exciting and bright colors to get the parents or the children’s attention. For a mature website, one can consider using dark colors with an all-white background.

Another interesting thing that I learned was how women and men tend to not like certain colors. Women do not like the colors grey, orange, and brown; instead they move towards blue, purple, and green. Men go for blue, green, and black. Also the color blue means you can earn someone’s trust, it is peaceful, and it means loyalty. Bright primary colors are used to get your attention. Red is mostly used to grab your attention or raise awareness for a cause. Never neglect the color white. It is mostly a forgotten color, but the website “Google” is famous for its all-white background and primary/secondary colored letters. The internet is a very colorful place. When it comes to designing a website, you have to think about your audience and whose attention you are trying to get.
